Memorial Day

It's been longer than I had intended since I last updated. I got busy getting ready for Jimmy's graduation and I'm finding it's hard to get back into the swing of blogging. Unfortunately I'll be gone again from my computer for two days, I hope I'll get back with it sooner when I get back.

Hopefully that all made some sense. It's nice having Jimmy home. He's not working at ITT this summer, so he's here helping me out with my list of things. We've been working in the kitchen and later this week we plan to start painting it. Our overall goal is to have the kitchen painted, purged, the living room and hallway painted, the spare room painted, the garage cleaned and get us down to one storage unit by July 15. It's doable. We just need to keep focused and get out of bed sooner........

Tomorrow morning bright and early (and tomorrow we MUST be out of bed by 6 a.m.) Jimmy and I are driving to Knoxville, TN to go apartment hunting for him. I'm confident we'll be able to find something and we'll have this taken care of before we come home. Other than getting up at the crack of dawn to leave (Jimmy made appointments and forgot about the time change), I'm looking forward to the trip. I've driven past Knoxville, but have never spent any time there. I'm looking forward to seeing where my son is going to be spending the next 4 or 5 years of his life.

It's The End Of The Day

Can't say I was too busy today, but the day's not over yet. Let's see, I got 4 loads of wash done, dishes done, did some ironing and oh yeah, I cut the grass. That one was a quick job - 2 1/2 hours. There was a nice breeze going though, and the scent of honeysuckle and wild roses was in the air.

I've got more to do before I can call it a day. Take the trash out, brown the hamburger I took out this morning and then start to pack. Jimmy graduates Saturday and we'll be taking off tomorrow. So, I need to get us ready for that......don't I?

A Rude Awakening

I had a hard time getting out of bed this morning. Something about it raining and no sign of the sun. So I played hit the snooze. Until the tornado siren went off. That got me up quick enough. I don't think there were any actual touch downs any where, but there was some damage done here and there.

I gave myself a bit of a break today. Kind of a dreary, rainy day. Got the dishes done (always); then went thru my wardrobe and did a purge. I tried everything on and got rid of what wasn't working for me any more. Yes, I did hang on to a couple of things that could have gone to Goodwill, but I wasn't ready to let them go yet. I had fun making outfits out of the things I bought along with the things I already have. I also have a couple of things to take back. Things that just didn't work out once I got them home.

Tomorrow it's laundry day, ironing day and let's start work in the kitchen day.

I Shopped

And boy howdy, did I ever! It was wonderful. I gave Jim a cost estimate for clothing. I don't know how long it's been since I've totally updated my wardrobe. I buy bits and pieces here and there, but haven't had an overhaul in a long time. Tomorrow I'll be weeding out my closet. Out with the old, in with the new!

I also bought myself a microfiber turban for my hair. A little reward for getting the spare room done early. Woo-hoo.

Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy!

I'm sitting here with my feet up and my laptop on my lap, but inside I am dancing! I am done with the spare room! That is, I'm done with all I can do alone; I'm going to need Jim's help to finish it. BUT!!!!!! I am done ahead of schedule!! I planned to be where I'm at today by Thursday, I got done early. I am going to celebrate! Tomorrow I'm going shopping!! And I'll be finding something special for myself.

We had a nice weekend. Saturday Jim and I had haircuts. Well, he had a haircut and I had my hair done. There's a difference. Tresa who cuts our hair is a friend of ours, so it's always nice to see her. A girl was there who went to high school with Jimmy and it was nice to talk to her as well. The rest of the day we took it easy. It was miserable rainy out, so it was easy not to do anything.

Yesterday we had a late lunch with friends. They have twin 3 year olds and a baby. It's always nice to see them.

Which brings me back to today. And being done with the spare room. And my happy dance.

You know, I had the page pulled up and was ready to start, but then decided to move on to something else and never got back to it. I can't claim that yesterday was a busy day, because it wasn't. I just didn't get back to it.

I woke up not feeling that great yesterday or today and both days I've ended back in bed for a while. Yesterday I still managed to get some work done in the spare room. Oh my! I worked on the desk and sorted thru all of the pens, pencils and Sharpies. We could start our own Sharpie store! I called Jim and told him the next time we get the urge to buy Sharpies we need to take deep breaths until the urge goes away.

It's been raining today. And of course, this was the day I was going to cut the grass. Oh well, there will just be more for me to cut when it dries out. Hopefully I can do it tomorrow or Sunday afternoon.

The swine flu has popped up here. 4 cases that are about 95% certain and another 10 possibles in the county. I can't say I'm surprised to see it here, just a little frustrated. I fall into the "at risk" category, so I skipped my weekly shopping trip yesterday and will be staying close to home for the time being.

A Chance to Put My Feet Up

I like this time of day. I've done most of my work, I've showered and now I'm starting to transition from the activities of the day to the evening hours.

The sun wasn't shining this morning when I woke up. I still got up by 7:45, but there for a minute or two I thought about rolling over and going back to sleep. Other than getting up on time, I'm not really following the schedule I set up. I'm getting work done alright, just not to the minute I had set up for myself.

I've learned in the first few days of my new schedule that I need to keep the TV off. Bravo shows reruns of the West Wing in the morning and I could quickly get addicted to watching it each morning. Of course, Jim reminds me that if I want to watch it, I have all the episodes on DVD.

I did watch the movie "Mona Lisa Smile" this morning (running to the kitchen during the commercials). It wasn't the best movie in the world, but it was good and thought provoking about a woman's place in the world. Things have changed for us since the mid-50's, but lwhat I got from the movie was to know yourself and to go for what you want.

And what do I want? Right now to be out from under the excess in our house. Recurrent theme, I know.

I've been using the L'Oreal Revitalift for a week now. Still like it. My skin seems to be smoother. During the day time I can't really tell I've got anything on my face. I like that because most products seem to leave a feeling of greasiness.

I've also been using the Jergens Natural Glow. My skin is slowly getting color. My arms and legs look like I've got a nice tan started. I do have a little discoloration around my ankles where the skin is rougher, but it's not too bad. I haven't used it on my face yet, although with the Revitalift my color is better. I want to use the L'Oreal for a month first and after that I'll use the Jergens during the day and the Revitalift at night.
